Presentation:

Who are we?
Volvo Cars is a company on a mission; to bring traditional car manufacturing into a connected, sustainable and smart future.
Since 1927, we have been a brand known for our commitment to safety, creating innovative cars that make life less complicated for our consumers. In 2010, we decided to transform our business, resulting in a totally new generation of cars and technologies, as well as steady growth and record sales. Today, we’re expanding our global footprint in Europe, China and the US, and we’re on the lookout for new talent.
We are constantly pushing our own skills and abilities to drive change in the automobile industry like never before. We are looking for innovative, committed people to join us in this endeavour and create safe, sustainable and connected cars. We believe in the power of people and will challenge and support you to reach your full potential. Join us and be part of Volvo Cars’ journey into the future.

What’s the challenge?
Volvo Cars is performing a strategic shift towards becoming a software driven company, with data being a core asset in this transformation. One challenge within the industrial cluster is the legacy application landscape which has been emerging gradually over 40 years. This has led to core information being scattered over several different applications. To overcome this, we are exploring possibilities to move core information into a common data platform in order to improve reliability and availability of the data. Furthermore, we are striving towards having one single source of truth for the data and to enable efficient governance of production critical data.

You will join the Order Management & Planning product cluster within Production Planning & Procurement area of Digital at Volvo Cars. This product cluster delivers digital solutions that improve stability and consistency in the production plan, which will enable us to provide shorter and more accurate lead times to our customers. You will be part of the journey as we deliver on our company’s vision and ensure high flow through our factories. We use modern tools and agile methods to create business value continuously. We ensure high quality and adaptability in our delivery. Of course, we have fun together while doing it.

We work according to the SAFe framework; 2-week sprints and 12-week PI-increments. However, we’re not religious about it and are constantly evaluating how to work in the best way, applying common sense to ensure as little waste as possible.

Who are you?
We are looking for a person who loves to code and can see the beauty in well written code. You are a passionate Data Engineer. We value speed above all, how fast we can deploy and how often we do it are the metrics that matter. You need to have the same mindset to fit in here, and you need to help us push the boundaries of what’s possible. We trust you to own your decisions in your field of expertise.

You as a person
We believe that you are user-focused and passionate about solving problems. You are flexible, open to new ideas and always looking for ways to improve. An analytical mindset and an eagerness to learn are two very important qualities to have. You share knowledge within the team. You are energetic, forward-thinking and you push for innovation. You can communicate in English both verbally and in writing.

What you need to know to be able to deliver
You should have proven experience in working with data management. Experience of building pipelines and ingestion into the Azure-based data lake. Strength in SQL/NoSQL, data modelling, ETL/ELT development. You have knowledge and work experience in Snowflake-based data warehousing is an advantage. Good understanding of DevOps methodology. You are able to work with GitHub.

What you need to know or learn in order to excel
Used to working in a scaled agile environment. Prior hands-on experience with automating integration and deployments. Able to influence and contribute to the architecture based on specific use cases.
