Your role:

As an System Engineer (Software) in the Automation section at Saab Kockums, your focus will be on the specification, design, development, documentation and testing of automation software for submarines and/or surface vessels.

Specifically you will need to:

* Gain an understanding of the functionality of ship systems under development
* Develop and maintain software and associated design and test documentation
* Participate in reviews of software and documentation
* Perform integration and testing of software

The Automation sections operate out of both Malmö and Karlskrona and some travel will be required for this role.

Your profile

Desired skills and experience:

* Experience in designing, developing and testing software is required
* Excellent interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills
* University qualifications in an automation related discipline
* Knowledge about contemporary software development standards, principles and best practices
* Experience in developing complex software solutions for maritime applications is desirable
* Fluent in both Swedish and English.

This position includes access to classified information, and therefor requires that you pass a security vetting based on the current regulations around/of security protection. For positions requiring security clearance additional obligations on citizenship may apply. Your application can be in Swedish or English.

What you will be part of:

The Automation Section at Saab Kockums delivers automation for submarines and surface vessels across all phases of the system development lifecycle.

The section consists of a group of more than 20 skilled engineers who collaborate to create automation solutions operating in the some of the most complex environments in the world.

The section drives the development of control systems that monitor and control the submarine's steering system as well as ship mechanical systems such as pumps, hydraulic systems, diesel engines and cooling systems. This results in enhanced ship situation awareness, decision support and fault management for the platform.

The Saab Business Area Kockums provides design, construction and in-service support for advanced naval systems such as surface combatants and submarines to the Swedish Armed Forces and other customers worldwide. Other successful products are the air-independent Stirling system, mine countermeasure systems and submarine rescue systems.
